Discontinued products sure can make shopping for skin care treatments confusing. Now with a line as massive as Olay Regenerist, this really is an understatement. You go to a companies main site and there before your eyes is a complete listing of what they offer. Then you click to yet another site and there are a handful of items that weren't shown on the main company site.

So then what's the deal? The deal is that for the most, part skin care product companies don't like to show what they discontinued for a few sensible reasons. First and foremost, they simply don't want you knowing that any of their products weren't success stories. Also they don't like to show them, lest they inspire you to go out looking elsewhere for a bargain on a discontinued product.

On the same token, the sites that list these discontinued products certainly don't want you to knew that they're clearance items. The reason for that is basic. That is that if you know that they're no longer in production you'll be less inclined to pay the higher standard prices that they like to charge. So then having made these facts known, the following is a listing of the complete Olay Regenerist line as of July 2010.

OLAY REGENERIST FACIAL MOISTURIZERS

Micro Sculpting Cream

This product is purported to contain their highest concentration of their specially formulated amino-peptide complex. Peptides are the main building blocks of collagen, so this product functions by hydrating and plumping back up lost fulness. It also contains a few proven effective soluble skin nutrients, such as B3 complex. What's most important though, is that all that it contains can penetrate the skins outer protective epidermal layer. Keep in mind that peptides are powerful active ingredients and can cause minor skin irritation with some users. The remedy in most cases of peptide irritation, is to simply cut back the dose and allow the skin time to acclimate.

Micro-Sculpting Serum

This serum is basically almost chemically identical to the above listed cream. It contains their unique peptide protein matrix, along with the other vital skin nutrients and delivers results in as little time as five days. Results are cumulative with both of these products but you do run a higher risk of irritation with the serum, which is meant for discreet problem areas. Serums like this also work much better under makeup than creams.

Finding complete truth in advertising in the virtual sea of modern skin care products is pretty much out of the question today. You see, the fact is that none of them can completely turn back the hands of time.

However; many of them can definitely smooth out wrinkles and give your face a youthful glow. So then, what about this product? After all, $29 for a 1.7 oz tube is a bit pricey. 1.7 oz is definitely not a heck of a lot of lotion.

Check out every add for it on the Internet and the first fact that's listed is that it's “oil free”. Oil free is big now, as more people look for products that can migrate to the skins lower substrate.

Well lo and behold, the very first substance listed on its ingredients is (dicaprylyl maleate), which is in fact an oil. Granted, it's a very fine oil that was first derived from whale oil but is now synthesized but it is none the less an oil.

OK, so all “B.S”. in advertising aside. What really matters I suppose, is whether it works or not. On the plus side, as previously stated dicaprylyl maleate is a “very fine” oil.

So fine in fact, that even though it is the main ingredient in Murad Skin Perfecting Lotion, they are able convince people that it's oil free. Another plus for it is that it's very benign and can be easily classified as hypoallergenic. It's mild stuff!

So for the person who's looking for a “quick fix” to dry skin and who also doesn't want to take chances with harsh and often dangerous chemicals, this would be a product worth trying out but remember again that 1.7 oz is a pretty “darn small” tube.

I love this product. I was worried that my skin would dry out with this lotion, but that has not been the case. It feels nice going on, and leaves my skin feeling soft, yet not sticky. My pores are still congested, but I think I need to get a facial to take care of that. . UPDATE: My skin did fine with this throughout a long, dry winter. I am almost out of my first tube and will repurchase. My pores, however, are still clogged. I don't think this lotion caused the clogging, but it hasn't helped the situation much either (none of the murad products have helped with that). I do, however, think this lotion is great, and have stopped jonesing for every new moisturizer on the market since I started using it. I tried a few facial moisturizers & this one felt the cleanest. I am very prone to breakouts & this moisturizer didn't break me out. It's kinda pricey for such a small amount but when I tried something cheaper it seemed sticky compared to Murad 3 skin perfecting lotion & made me unhappy w/drugstore brand moisturizers.

Avon could be considered the "Ford Motors" of cosmetics. In this case, sadly, I think that the analogy works, remember the "Found On Road Dead" analogy/acronym? This is not a bad product, with regard to its actual results. Its an excellent moisturizer and, while a little costly, the Avon name carries a bit of value in itself. In real world performance, however, many customers report that while it is indeed a very nice moisturizing cream, the 2 in 1 concept seems to work for some but not for others. This is certainly true of all products and Avon Anew Clinical is no exception. But the problem comes in where the advertising leaves off.

Is this a true "Anti-Aging" cream? Uh... No. The biggest test is dark circles. This is the whole point of the product. And on that note, the results do vary somewhat. While virtually all customers report that the product's moisturizing properties are not in doubt, the weak point is whether it will "reverse the aging process." And most agree that "No," it will not. There are mixed reviews about its performance on lines and dark circles, with some reporting good results and more than a few reporting no results at all. So does it work? Well, uh... Again, no. Not really anyway, if you find it on the cheaper side, then why not have a fling and try it, but at full retail, nope, not worth it.

This item is a pretty good eye cream. I have noticed that the firming portion of the treatment really does work. Your eyelids and upper eye region will feel tighter. The under-eye cream does not do anything for dark circles or fine lines. It does provide moisture to the area but is not reversing any aging.

Dermalogica skin smoothing cream is recommended for drier or prematurely-aging skin. Its a medium-weight cream that maintains skin's moisture balance while improving its texture. Deep-moisturizing lecithin and aloe gel nourish while extracts of mallow, Cucumber and arnica soothe and hydrate the skin, Antioxidant grape seed extract plus vitamins A, C and E help shield skin from environmental factors. Its free of artificial fragrance or color. The cream is a little heavy but not as much as others and generally, the reports are good. It would appear however that it falls a little short of the mark for its intended purpose; the drier, prematurely aged skin.

There are a couple of things you should keep in mind however. First some report that there can be a slightly unpleasant odor when its first applied. This is a little surprising coming from a cosmetics company with this kind of experience but the number of people making this claim could be explained by personal preferences. Most refer it to Vick's Vapor rub. As to whether or not it really works, well yes sort of but it appears that it doesn't really do anything special for those with extra dry skin or prematurely aged skin. And that was the point yes? The other most often repeated complaint was about the price. You should give this a try if your looking for a new moisturizer but wait until a sale.

I have used Dermalogica products for a number of years now and I doubt very seriously that I would ever use anything else. The skin smoothing cream is a medium weight cream that I use in the winter months and when it is spring and summer I switch to Active Moist. My skin always feels great.

My skin is dry and of course its gets even drier in the winter. I think I tried this out in the summer as I was looking for a new moisturizer. although this looks a bit thick I actually didn't find it to be really moisturizing for my skin, I felt that I needed more moisture. if your skin is normal/dry this would be great as it really does do what it says, and Dermalogica is a really good brand for skincare. And I also recommend that you try out testers first before purchasing!

Clinique's All About Eyes Rich is another under-eye moisturizing cream from the world recognized cosmetics maker. As such you'd think that it would be a world class product. Well, for the most part you'd be right. Some of the hype is just that, hype. As is the case with most products in this market. Companies naturally need to make greater and greater claims. This is one of the cases where, for the most part, the product lives up to its hype. No, your eyes will not look 10 years younger in 2 weeks but your eyes will benefit from the moisturizing effects and that will help fight back the bags and dark circles

Notice I said help, not cure. Of hundreds of customers reviewed most fall in the middle ground, reporting it to be a good, not great product. Furthermore, they report that in general it does what it should be doing. But no miracles. There are several reports of individuals claiming that it has a particularly good effect on the condition known as "swimmers eye." These reports are coming from swimmers for the most part so "horse's mouth" applies. The other thing to be aware of is that a number of people with sensitivity issues report some initial discomfort using the product. Over-all it’s a good product, just forget the hype and remember the quality of the maker.

Dermalogica soothing protection spray is a mist that is intended to act as an environmental shield to immediately reduce the redness and inflammation associated with stress, pollution, climatic extremes or allergies. Its primarily intended for Rosacea-prone skin, acne-prone skin, sensitive skin, and reactive skin. From what has been said by those who use it, this works. There a few reports of customers accidentally inhaling the fumes while applying it but for the most part the experience of using is reported glowingly. The woman who was giving me a facial in December recommended this, along with some other Dermalogica products. Since she doesn't sell it, I figured it was an honest recommendation (she doesn't stand to profit from my purchase). When you spray this on (be careful not to breathe it in), it's like walking through one of those rain-forest misters at theme parks: cool and refreshing. It doesn't dry the skin like a toner, but adds moisture that stays. It dries a little shiny, but the Barrier Repair get that I apply over it takes away the shine. I don't know specifically what it's doing for my skin, but I love the way my face feels this winter, and I know it's because of this spray and the other Dermalogica products I'm using.

Elemis Pro Collagen Eye Renewal is an Anti-Aging, intensive eye cream. The intent of the product seems to be, like many others on the market, to be a "natural", "organic" style of cosmetic treatment. The focus of the ingredients seems to be seaweed and algae. Marketing by Elemis mentions things like "Padina Pavonica" and "Methylsilanol Munnumronate," the latter being an organic derivative of seaweed. This is one of the costlier products on the market of this type. The retail is $99.00 The manufacturer is known in the U.K. Spa world where it has a very strong placement in the market.

This would explain the seaweed and algae. As to whether it works. The verdict is generally positive. The features that are most often mentioned glowingly are the smooth gel consistency and the lack of the stinging effect of many similar products. There may be some potential issues with using the product with other product on the same skin area but these are not common. It does have a definite positive impact on dark circle syndrome and can noticeably reduce the appearance of both them and bags under the eyes. Yes Elemis Pro Collagen Eye Renewal does what it says it can do. The price is rather high though, and there are other products on the market that are similar but much less expensive

I have been using the cream for approx. 3 weeks. I have noticed a difference in my dark circles. The only thing is when I now apply my concealer it does not sit smoothly, where as before i could get a nice smooth coverage now it just clogs up and makes my eye area look dark. I'd bought this product looking for something that would cool my face in hot, humid weather. I spritz this on over my makeup so as far as smoothing lines, I'm not sure I see that, but I do feel pores are a bit tighter and it's definitely refreshing. There's a slight tingling, not burning sensation. It smells absolutely DIVINE. I wish they'd make a candle from this fragrance. Overall, it's great and I'm glad I bought it!

I've been using this product for around 4 months, and noticed a difference in my skin after a few days of use. I tend to have eczema as well as oily skin and breakouts, and this stuff always makes a big difference when i apply it at night. it's also really refreshing on a hot day. and the fragrance is nice -- kind of a mint/rosemary/botanical smell. i'd highly reccommend it--esp since it doesn't have any scary additives or preservatives.
